About the Artist
Lisa Hut has lived in New York, Hawaii and Texas, ultimately settling in Colorado. Lisa earned her art degree from the Art Institute of Dallas. After working as a full-time graphic designer, she continued freelance work while raising her two children, she also taught art at the elementary school level. Shifting from graphic design to fine art; she started painting in 2003 and works in pastel, acrylic and oils, pen and ink watercolors and collage. A love of travel keeps her on the road and painting in many locations across the US and internationally. Volunteer Work Lisa has volunteered for the Alzheimer's Association of Colorado since 2009. She taught painting to individuals afflicted with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia. The Association’s weekly painting classes are designed specifically for memory-impaired individuals. Lisa loves working with the elderly and finds it a rewarding challenge to be able to teach anyone to find joy in artistic expression through painting. These art sessions can be bittersweet and often full of laughter, and they keep her on a steady path of gratitude. You can go here to purchase mittens and learn more about dementia. Artist Statement I’ve been an artist from my earliest memories and have a passion for art that grows each year. I challenged myself to do a painting a day in 2016 with one goal; to improve as an artist. I'm painting to celebrate the beauty of nature and am always looking for that perfect place between realistic and abstract expression. My intention is to express what I feel in a painting, rather than striving for a photographic rendition. I cherish those moments when a friend or client connects with my artwork. I live and paint in Colorado but can be found traveling often for new painting destinations. |
